THE KUCOON STORY

Hello, I’m Lynette, the founder of Kucoon Silk, in beautiful N. Ireland. I have always enjoyed creative projects and in particular working with fabric. My mum had taught me to use a sewing machine from a very young age and right from then I had a life-long love for beautiful fabrics. From making dolls clothes as a young child, to creating my own batik prints on cotton, to quilt making. I just loved working with fabric.

In my early 20’s, I found myself on some amazing trips to the Far East, travelling through Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. I was a magnet to the textile markets and one fabric stood out to me – their incredible hand-woven silks. These unique works of textile art made by the hands of rural women were exquisite.

Fast forward 20 years with a career in finance and networking behind me, my passion for silk has unexpectedly appeared again. I stumbled across an article discussing the vast benefits of sleeping on pure silk.

Like many 40 somethings, looking after my hair and skin has got more challenging and for many, it can cause great distress. Our skin loses its elasticity and luminosity while our hair is weaker, duller and thinner. We  always seem to be on the search for the holy grail of skin and hair care in the form of supplements and serums.

But what if it could be so simple as just sleeping on silk?

However, there was a big ‘but.’ Spending so much on a seemingly expensive pillowcase seemed rather extravagant but as usual I hit the buy button anyway!

As I unboxed the pillowcase, I instantly fell in love with its sheen and softness, I couldn’t wait to try it! After just one night I knew I never wanted to lay my head on a cotton pillowcase again. Waking up from a great night’s sleep, I instantly knew that this silk was going to be one of the best investments I would make in my sleep and beauty routine. Within days my hair was noticeably smoother when I woke, my skin felt better and more hydrated. Not forgetting the other major pluses - 100% natural mulberry silk is eco-friendly, sustainable and completely biodegradable. In hindsight the cost of such a beautiful and beneficial item no longer concerned me. It was worth every penny.

We spend approximately 7-8 hours a night, every night, lying on our pillows so why are we not making it an investment piece!

My fandom of the fabric made me want to bring affordable yet ethical mulberry silk to a wide audience. Months and months of research on clinical and consumer studies to back up my own personal experience made me realise dermatologists and hair professionals the world over agree that the natural and luxurious qualities of silk have considerable skin and hair loving benefits. It was then I knew I wanted to create my own brand of the highest quality, 100% pure mulberry silk products.

Since then, I’ve worked in close collaboration with leading experts in ethical silk production, I meticulously tried, tested and re-worked products. Together we have developed a new level of smoothness thanks to an additional refining stage at the end of silk making process that makes our silk a game changer.

Kucoon silk supersedes the highest grade 6A silk and I’m delighted to bring Kucoon 6Aplus to market.

Kucoon is not just for women but for the WHOLE family.

Absolutely everyone can benefit from silk, from new-born babies, acne prone teenagers, 30 somethings, menopausal women, men who want to look after their skin and hair as much as women do and everyone in between who wants to sleep better!

If I can help, even a little, a teen struggling with their acne, a woman suffering with hot flushes sleep more comfortably or make a lady feel better about her hair, then that will make me a very happy girl! So welcome to the world of Kucoon silk - it’s not just luxury bedding, it’s the ultimate in beauty sleep and wellbeing.
